Loyd, Kaylan Marie

Kaylan Marie Loyd was born July 1, 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee. She started singing at the age of two, and by the time she was ten had her first album credit on Liz Anderson’s The Fairy Grandmother cd.
Born into a musical family and growing up in Nashville, Kaylan discovered early on that she loved to sing. Her dad, Gary Loyd, is a multi-platinum winning songwriter who has worked on staff with publishing companies owned by Toby Keith, Clint Black, and Don Schlitz, and has had songs recorded by Tim McGraw, Colt Ford, Randy Houser, “The Voice” runner up Jake Worhington, Vern Gosdin, Michelle Wright, and The Outlaws,to name a few.

Growing up, Kaylan sang The National Anthem for numerous soccer games, football games, basketball games as well as the Nashville Sounds baseball games.
Kaylan loves donating her time for a good cause. When she was eight years old she began performing for the Nashville Chapter’s March of Dimes Walk-a- thon, and performed at the opening ceremony for eight consecutive years. One year she found Nicole Kidman and Kelly Clarkson looking on from the crowd. Kaylan was later seen on an episode of Entertainment Tonight hanging out with Clarkson sharing an umbrella.
Kaylan has made appearances at the infamous Bluebird Café, CMA Fest, the legendary Douglas Corner Café, Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival, The Von Bron Center, as well as Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre, rubbing elbows with artist superstars such as Alan Jackson,Taylor Swift, Danny Gokey, Kelly Clarkson, Troy Gentry, Darryl Worley, and Wynonna.
As a sophomore at Page High School, Kaylan entered the Patriot Idol competition (a spinoff ofAmerican Idol) hosted by former CMT host Gary Chapman. Kaylan took first prize in the contest out of hundreds of contestants. She won limo rides, makeovers, shopping sprees, pro gear and other prizes. Kaylan’s first prize, included her own cd single and music video, Heartsounds, produced by David Byerley and Nathan Degesare of Fullscale Productions.
Two weeks after her 16th birthday, Kaylan auditioned for Fox Network’s American Idol (Season 8) and advanced to the Hollywood rounds. On the show she was billed as “One of their Louisville favorites”, but was rushed to the ER between rounds and hospitalized for an emergency appendectomy. Despite her adversity, Kaylan still managed three performances on the stage of the Kodak Theatre, making it to the top 51 out of over 100,000 contestants.
Since American Idol, Kaylan has been honing her songwriting and singing skills.
Now at the age of 22, Kaylan continues to perform, write new music and recently recorded a new cd with 2 time Grammy winning producer/writer Dale Oliver and award winning songwriter/producer Gary Loyd, to be released in 2015. Rumor has it there are also plans in the works for a new tv series?
