From The Ground Up Community Garden

It’s all in the name.

In spring of 2015, Innisfree hotels partnered with the City of Pensacola to turn an empty plot of downtown land into a community hub of education, music, art,  and sustainability.

The purpose of the garden has evolved since then, with a renewed focus in teaching kids the importance of growing their own food. This happens through various field trips, guided tours, and volunteer projects at the garden. Volunteer hours are available for everyone, though.

In addition, the Garden is host to several community events, including “Music Under the Stars”. These seasonal concerts typically occur in the Spring and Fall. “Music Under the Stars” has drawn crowds as large as 250 people, who bring their own chairs and sit among the plants to learn about the garden, hear awesome acts and dine from local food trucks.

Upcoming scheduled performances for the “Music Under the Stars” series include
Saturday, September 16th – 7pm  featuring Grandpa’s Cough Medicine.

Saturday, September 30th – 3pm – 100K Poets for Change Open Mic Night

Friday, October 6th – 7pm – John Hart

Friday, October 20th – 7pm – Cajun Shrimp Boil with Grayson Capps, Molly Thomas and Corky Hughes

Admission for these varies from $10-$25.

And now, From the Ground Up Community Garden is pleased to announce its’ association with the 33rd Annual Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival. The FBISF runs from November 9th – 19th in venues from downtown Pensacola, FL  to Gulf Shores, AL. The Garden will be an official venue and will host songwriters on Saturday, November 11th at 7pm. The line up for this performance is being developed and will be announced closer to the date. Admission will be $10.00 per person.
