Frank Brown Songwriters’ Festival Names Director Of In-Schools Outreach Program

Pensacola, FL, May 20, 2016- The Board of Directors for the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen E. Reynolds, as Director of the Frank Brown Foundation In-Schools Outreach Program.

Designed to benefit the youth in the surrounding community, the Foundation’s In-Schools Outreach is a multi-faceted and unique educational experience which introduces students to the wonders of songwriting and serves as a path to creative self expression. Professional songwriters are brought in to speak to students of all ages, combining performance with an interactive educational approach and utilizes a variety of skill building techniques. Statistics show that programs such as this can benefit students in developing social skills, self confidence and self esteem, plus engages and improves Mathematics, English and vocabulary skills.
Reynolds is an award winning singer songwriter with national credits to her name and has been a featured performer in the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival for the past 14 years. Over that period she has dedicated herself to building and sculpting this program. Due to her background as a respected music industry consultant and having taught workshops and music educational courses for a variety of universities and music conferences or organizations, she is as proficient in the class room as she is onstage. Through her continued efforts, a new ‘Writer In Residence’ curriculum based format of the program is being offered as well.

The Board’s action comes with the fullest confidence that Reynolds is a leader with experience and passion for this program and will continue to be an excellent steward of the Foundation’s mission to provide this community service. Per FBISF Board Member, Gary Rogers, “The board is excited to have Karen serve as the Director for this important extension of the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival. Her leadership and experience are fundamental to the growth and integrity of the program, as well as, in fostering critical community support and partners who share and fully realize the Frank Brown Foundation’s vision to provide opportunity to area youth.”

“I am honored to play this unique and vital role towards continuing to build and shape this program” says Reynolds. “Our goal is for the student’s excitement in songwriting and writing, in general, to carry on beyond the presentation, encouraging them to continue along this path to self expression, creativity and to develop greater cognitive and communication skills that will serve them throughout their lives.”

The 33rd annual Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival will be held November 9-19, 2017 and takes place in restaurants and venues along the beautiful Gulf Coast, from Gulf Shores to Pensacola. The 10-day festival is a chance for visitors and locals to hear the unsung heroes behind world-famous songs as professional songwriters from all over the nation come together for nearly two weeks of talent sharing and laid-back performances. The Southeast Tourism Society has consistently named the Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival one of the top 20 events in the Southeast.
