Brock, Buddy

Buddy was signed as a staff writer by Acuff-Rose, the oldest country music publisher in Nashville in April 1990.  He moved to Nashville from South Carolina in July of 1990.

By December of that year, he had scored his first hit single “You’ve Got to Stand for Something” with longtime friend, Aaron Tippin.  Together they penned “There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong with the Radio”, “Call of the Wild”, and many other Aaron Tippin recordings.

Buddy co-wrote Kenny Chesney’s first hit single “Fall in Love” plus several others for the award winning artist.

“Fall in Love”, “You’ve Got to Stand for Something”, and “There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong with the Radio” are each BMI Award winning songs and obtained multiple million airplay status.  Buddy’s other BMI award winning songs include: “Watermelon Crawl” by Tracy Byrd, “I want to Fall in Love” by Lyla McCann, and “Haunted Heart” by Sammy Kershaw.

Many country artists have recorded Buddy’s songs including George Strait, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Gary Allen, George Jones, Tanya Tucker, Doug Stone, Ty Herndon, and many others.

Buddy has been blessed with a long and successful songwriting career. He and is currently writing with a few of his longtime writers and a couple of young artists he believes in.
