Bond, Debbie

Debbie has been paying her dues in the Alabama backwoods for over 30 years and “Radiator” Rick first heard the blues in his native city of London, England, eventually joining Debbie in her love of Alabama blues in 2001. Influenced by traditional Alabama blues and the sounds of Muscle Shoals, their impressive musical story includes years of performing and touring in the US and Europe with traditional Alabama blues musicians, including Johnny Shines, Sam Lay, Eddie Kirkland and Willie King.

Bond’s immersion in the blues has deeply flavored her soulful voice and guitar playing and informed her songwriting. Rick is a multi-instrumentalist: a singer who blows a mean harp, plays honky-tonk piano with hints of Louisiana swamp and more. He is a co-writer on all their tunes, and produced their last three recordings critically acclaimed here and in Europe.

Together, their sound is contemporary and original, incorporating soul, blues, rock and country influences.

Her powerful, engaging and soulful sound has equal amounts of jazz and R&B influence. Bond’s compositions have the narrative flair and realistic edge emblematic of country’s best sagas.
